Rocco Rizzo received the Laurea Degree in Electrical Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Electromagnetism from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1998 and 2002 respectively.
In 2003 he spent some months as a Post-doctoral Academic Scientist at Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Bath, UK.
For two years he was post-doctoral fellow at the Interdipartimental Research Center "E. Piaggio" of the University of Pisa.

Currently, he is a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at Department of Energy and System Engineering (DESTEC) and at Research Center "E. Piaggio" of University of Pisa, Italy.

His research interests include: analytical and numerical computation of electromagnetic fields; synthesis of electromagnetic devices; haptic interfaces; magnetic levitation; and electromagnetic launchers.

Since 2004 he is a member of the Academy of Nonlinear Sciences in Russia. In the period 2006-2008 he has been the leader of an International Agreement of Scientific Cooperation between the University of Pisa and Moscow Aviation Institute - State Technical University (Russia) in the field of Applied Electromagnetism and Electrical Engineering.

He has been directly responsible or member of the research group in many research projects and he has given several invited lectures and seminars in different universities.
He has published more than 130 papers on international journals, books, and refereed conferences, and  he has filed some European Patents.
