Ermes Botte
Ermes Botte is actually enrolled in the PhD program in Information Engineering at the Research Centre “E. Piaggio” of the University of Pisa, Italy. He received both the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2017 and 2019, respectively. During his master thesis he worked on the design and prototyping of a bioreactor for the development of a physiologically relevant in vitro model of the human gut microbiota, leveraging on a purposely defined paradigm for parametric design. Currently, his main research interests concern studying and modelling metabolic scaling phenomena in artificially generated cellular systems spanning from single cells up to complex architectures of 3D cell aggregates, with the aim of defining biomimetic design constraints for the development of tissue engineering models with optimized predictive and translational power. His research activity is also focused on the development of in silico tools enabling the estimation of nano-sized particle deposition and
distribution in biological tissues and organs, supporting the assessment of nanomaterial-related hazard in the field of nanotoxicology.
